Delaware became the 1st of the 50 United States on December 7, 1787. The state provide the nation's first steam railroad. Production began in New Castle in 1831. One of the enduring symbols of the American pioneers is the log cabin, which was first brought to the US by Finnish settlers in the mid-1600s. One of the cabins was preserved and is currently on display at the Delaware Agricultural Museum in the state's capital, Dover.
